Blackstone CEO Larry Fink warns: A shutdown of AI data centers could lead to a recession in the U.S. economy

According to CoinMeta, Larry Fink, CEO of Blackstone Group, warned in an interview that halting support for data center development in AI could lead the U.S. economy into recession. He pointed out that the surge in AI infrastructure spending has become a core driver of economic growth, and imposing restrictions on it would be dangerous. Fink stated that if the U.S. implemented some form of suspension, the economy would be severely affected. According to data from the Brookings Institution, as of July, at least 100 localities had approved suspensions of data center construction, and New York had also paused the issuance of certain permits. Despite public opposition, Fink still insists that data centers are not the problem; rather, it is the construction work and energy infrastructure demands they bring about that are the issue.
