According to CoinMeta, Meta Platforms ( META.O ) has launched a new open-weight AI model Muse Spark Open, which is mainly aimed at programming and AI intelligent tasks, but they have not made their most powerful model available to the public. The chief AI official of Meta stated that Muse Spark Open is not the strongest model developed or released by the company. Meta launched earlier this week still uses a closed-source model. Meta also acknowledges that in software development and some other tasks, Chinese open-weight models still perform better than Muse Spark Open. At the same time, Meta has reached a cooperation with Apple ( AAPL.O ) to support developers in running Muse Spark Open locally on multiple high-end Mac computers. Apple has updated its MLX software toolkit to support the operation of this model on Mac devices.
