2026-10-15 16:27:33
According to CoinMeta, on October 15, 2026, Australia proposed new regulations for cryptocurrency trading and custody platforms. The financial regulatory authority plans to implement a digital asset licensing framework in April 2027 and is seeking public feedback by November 27. At the same time, ASIC released consultation document 392, which outlines requirements for customer asset protection, trading practices, and financial resources. The new regulations will bring more cryptocurrency businesses under the existing financial services licensing framework. After the legislation is passed, existing operators will need to apply for the required authorization or request changes to their current licenses by October 7, 2027. ASIC is expected to issue final guidelines in March 2027 to help businesses prepare for the new licensing requirements.
