Osmosis Community Proposal to Terminate OSMO Inflationary Issuance
2026-10-15 12:20:40
According to CoinMeta, the Osmosis community has proposed to terminate the inflationary token issuance of OSMO. The plan is to stop the daily issuance of new tokens and suspend the daily unlocking of developer tokens, so that staking rewards will be solely funded by protocol transaction fees and other revenues. Currently, the relevant modules distribute about 121,800 OSMO tokens per day, of which approximately 9,740 are used as staking rewards, 30,400 are for the unlocking of developers' existing tokens, and the remaining 81,600 go into the community fund pool. If the proposal is approved, the approximately 51.9 million OSMO tokens that have not yet been unlocked by developers will remain locked, and any future release will require a separate governance decision.
