According to CoinMeta, as reported by U.Today, engineer Mayukha Vadari from Ripple has warned that with the emergence of artificial intelligence, security threats are increasing. This warning was issued after developers discovered a critical vulnerability in the XRP ledger (XRPL), which could allow attackers to mint up to 18.45 trillion XRP, exceeding 184 times the initial supply. The vulnerability was identified on September 21st and the next day, researchers submitted a report through XRP's ledger vulnerability reward program. Although XRPL developers have not yet found evidence of the vulnerability being exploited, its discovery prompted the development team to release an emergency update XRPLD 3.4.1 on September 25th. The source code has not been made public yet, which has raised questions about the nature of open-source development.
