According to CoinMeta, the person in charge of the ripplex project, j. ayo akinyele, stated that there is a serious vulnerability in the XRP ledger payment engine that has existed for over 10 years. This vulnerability once posed a risk of XRP being overissued beyond the fixed supply. The vulnerability was discovered through a bounty program and has not yet been exploited. The development team has released a fix version xrpld 3.4.1 and completed a network upgrade. xrpl will increase investment in proactive security, clear technical debts, and advance formal verification efforts.
