According to CoinMeta, while Nvidia has become a company with a market value of $5 trillion, it still requires its employees to pay for their lunch expenses out of their own pockets, although they do enjoy more generous benefits such as stock discounts. Nvidia currently has a market value of about $5.6 trillion and is the most valuable company in the world, surpassing other tech giants like Google, Apple, and Amazon. Nevertheless, employees at Nvidia still have to pay for their lunch at the company cafeteria. A software engineer Gergely Orosz who visited the company headquarters noted that Nvidia's food policy is different from that of other large tech companies; employees are required to pay for snacks and coffee. Although coffee is usually free, employees must pay for some bottled drinks and beverages from the on-site café. Nvidia's food policy has been in place for over a decade, and as early as 2014, a blog post by an intern indicated that meals were subsidized rather than free, costing an average of around $6. The HR director at Nvidia once stated that the company focuses more on improving work-life balance through flexible work schedules and a policy that does not force employees to return to the office, rather than providing free lunches.
