CoinMeta data: The former Mt Gox CEO, Mark Karpel, pointed out that a miniature circuit board was discovered inside a sealed Ledger hardware wallet, designed to steal passwords and users' encrypted assets. Karpel stated that this spy device was hidden behind the screen and came with an antenna and a small SIM card, capable of remotely transmitting the wallet's 24-word mnemonic phrase, allowing attackers to access the funds without needing to touch the device again. Ledger is currently investigating reports of wallets involving Malaysian resellers Cryptobilis being emptied, and has requested that the company cease selling and transporting its devices. Preliminary investigations estimate losses to exceed $86 million, with subsequent analysis raising this figure to $92.9 million.
