Trump Eases Sanctions on Russia to Ensure Diesel Supply
2026-10-10 06:43:40
According to CoinMeta, Trump has relaxed sanctions on Russian diesel in order to reach a supply agreement with Putin, in an attempt to reduce the fuel prices of $6 per gallon in the United States. Farmers and truck drivers are facing increased costs ahead of the mid-term elections. Under the agreement, Russia will immediately send 300,000 tons of diesel, another 500,000 tons in November, followed by another 1 million tons, with potential for another 3 million tons of subsequent supplies. The U.S. Treasury Department has issued licenses allowing the trade of Russian diesel until April 2027, bypassing restrictions on Moscow's energy revenues. The attacks on Ukraine have affected Russian refineries, forcing them to reduce exports. Ukrainian President Zelensky criticized this decision, stating that "the gift given to Putin will not bring peace or any benefits."
