Crypto.com Operator Foris Dax Wins Dismissal of Privacy Litigation
2026-10-10 04:11:56
According to CoinMeta, the operator of Crypto.com, Foris Dax, has won a lawsuit dismissal regarding cookie privacy in California, as the judge found that the plaintiff lacked the qualifications to file a lawsuit. Judge Edward Chen ( Edward M. Chen ) stated that the plaintiff has 30 days to resubmit their complaint. This dismissal is based on the court's independent review of jurisdiction, and the judge emphasized that without specific harm, the court cannot proceed with the case. The plaintiff filed the lawsuit in 2025, claiming that the Crypto.com's cookie banners did not comply with the privacy settings chosen by the users. Although the plaintiff claimed that their financial interests were being tracked, the judge believed that merely having the IP address and browser ID was not sufficient to constitute specific harm. The judge pointed out that the sensitivity of the information is a key factor in determining privacy infringement. Although this case has been dismissed, the judge did not rule out the possibility of the plaintiff resubmitting their complaint, and the 30-day deadline will expire on November 5th.
