Haseeb Qureshi: Questioning the bunker mode of Justin Drake, suggesting the adoption of a cryptographic recovery mode
2026-10-09 21:54:09
According to CoinMeta, Dragonfly, one of the managing partners, Haseeb Qureshi, stated that the “bunker mode” proposed by Justin Drake falls under the category of “cryptography doomsdayism,” and that migrating addresses cannot resolve the risk of AI cracking encrypted signatures. He believes that the “bunker mode” cannot protect assets that are being sold from other addresses and suggests adopting a “cryptography recovery mode” instead, which involves using a hash-based backup signature scheme with the assistance of verifiers to recover the assets. Justin Drake had previously warned ECDSA that the signature algorithm is at risk of being cracked and advised users to migrate their funds to new wallets. CoinMeta data shows that currently, about 6.26 million BTC are located in addresses that pose potential risks.
