According to CoinMeta, Citibank released a report stating that Samsung Electronics announced its preliminary results for the third quarter of this year, with an operating profit of 107.4 trillion Korean won, a 20% increase from the previous quarter and a 782% increase year-on-year. This was mainly driven by strong earnings in memory products, although it was affected by unfavorable exchange rates and additional bonuses during the period. The bank estimates Samsung Electronics' operating profit for the third quarter of semiconductors at around 107 trillion Korean won and has raised its forecasts for operating profit from 2026 to 2028 by 1.4%, 1.8%, and 2.7%, respectively. It reaffirmed its "buy" rating with a target price of 430,000 Korean won. Citibank expects that the price of HBM4 12hi will rise sharply from an estimated $2 per Gb in 2026 to around $4 to $5 per Gb in 2027, representing a year-on-year increase of 100% to 150%. The premium of HBM4 8hi over 12hi is expected to be around 20% to 30%, which should bring considerable room for upward movement in average selling prices and profit margins for Samsung Electronics. With increased HBM4 production, along with improved HBM competitiveness, the bank expects the company's market leadership to be further consolidated.
