US prosecutors cite the Bitcoin Fog case to advocate for trials of Roman Storm in New York

According to CoinMeta, U.S. federal prosecutors informed the judge that on September 25th, the U.S. District of Columbia Circuit of Appeals upheld the conviction of Roman Sterlingov, the founder of Bitcoin Fog, supporting the trial of Roman Storm in New York. The appeals court determined that Washington D.C. had jurisdiction over the case, as law enforcement officers had deposited approximately $250 worth of Bitcoin from Washington D.C. into Bitcoin Fog. The prosecution argued that user Shakeeb Ahmed had accessed Tornado Cash from his apartment in Manhattan, hence the same logic applied. Roman Storm released this letter and pointed out that FinCEN retracted the request for a mixer report submitted in 2023 on that day.
