Robinhood Chain's Rapid Expansion Exposes the Value Gap of Ethereum Layer 2

CoinMeta data: The Robinhood chain has become one of Ethereum’s busiest Layer networks, but its rapid expansion is testing the core assumptions of Ethereum’s Rollup economy: How much value is actually captured by the underlying layer when activity moves elsewhere? This network is built on the Arbitrum stack, using Ethereum for settlement and data availability. On September 3rd, it was found that Robinhood chain users paid approximately $4.5 million in transaction fees, with only about $396 used to publish data to Ethereum and another $2 for proof-of-work fees. Nevertheless, the activity on the Robinhood chain is still quite substantial, approaching $1 billion, and transaction activity is expanding rapidly. According to DefiLlama data, the Robinhood chain processed approximately $38.8 billion in decentralized transactions over the past 30 days, of which $3.26 billion were Uniswap. Despite handling billions of dollars in daily transaction volume, the network’s settlement demand on Ethereum’s mainnet remains negligible.
