Binance France will permanently close the affected customer accounts on December 31, 2026.
As it failed to obtain authorization in accordance with the EU's 'Framework for the Regulation of Crypto-Asset Markets' ( MiCA ) by June 30, this French local entity will close the relevant accounts.
Users must withdraw their remaining assets before closing their accounts to avoid additional fees or automatic processing of the assets.
Binance France will close customer accounts on December 31, as the company failed to obtain authorization under the EU MiCA framework. With the recharge function now suspended and new fees set to be charged later this month, French users have a limited time window to withdraw their assets and should complete these operations as soon as possible before the local platform closes.
Binance France sets December 31 as the deadline
Binance France stated that, after failing to obtain authorization in accordance with the 'Framework for the Regulation of Crypto Asset Markets' ( MiCA ), it will permanently close the accounts related to its French legal entity on December 31, 2026.
The exchange has suspended the deposit of fiat currency and cryptocurrencies for affected accounts. This closure is due to Binance France missing the deadline to obtain the required MiCA authorization by June 30th.
This measure affects accounts held by French entities, and it does not mean that Binance will shut down its entire global platform, nor does it imply that the accounts of all French users will be closed.
However, for users who still hold assets, time management is becoming increasingly important.
Binance adds fees before closing accounts
From November 29th onwards, Binance France will charge a management fee for accounts that continue to hold assets.
This fee is 0.025% of the monthly account balance, with a minimum charge of 10 USDC. This measure seems to be intended to encourage users to withdraw their assets before the final account closure date.
The relevant fees will be directly deducted from the available balance of USDC. If the balance of USDC is insufficient, Binance may use other cryptocurrencies held in the account to pay for these fees.
Binance also listed the planned withdrawal arrangements, with the first withdrawal expected to take place within three days starting from November 29th, followed by another withdrawal after December 24th.
What will happen to the remaining cryptocurrencies?
Users who fail to withdraw their assets by December 31 may have their remaining cryptocurrencies handled in accordance with Binance's service terms.
Depending on the specific circumstances, these assets may be converted, transferred, or otherwise disposed of after the account is closed. This means that December 31st is not merely an administrative deadline for affected customers.
For Binance France users, the current top priority is clear: they should withdraw eligible assets before the account closure process begins, rather than incurring additional fees or risking their remaining funds being automatically processed.
