Democratic lawmakers stated that as the new Congress takes office in January next year, executives of tech giants and individuals from President Donald Trump's business circle are expected to face a wave of subpoenas and investigations.
After the Democratic Party regained control of Congress with a landslide victory on Tuesday, Democratic lawmakers have begun to issue warnings to the Trump family and technology executives closely associated with this U.S. president.
“They have to plant more new forests for all the subpoenas we are about to issue,” said U.S. Senator Ed Markey. He is a member of the Senate Commerce Committee, and his remarks were directed at executives of tech giants.
U.S. Representative Robert Garcia is the candidate expected to become the chairman of the House Oversight Committee. He stated that he plans to address issues such as "the criminal family of Trump, corporate corruption, abuse by the Department of Homeland Security and the Immigration and Customs Enforcement, as well as the cover-up of Epstein's documents," and added a two-word warning: "Please consult a lawyer."
These warnings appeared during the mid-term election campaign period. At that time, Democrats criticized the growing political influence of large tech companies and the rapid expansion of artificial intelligence, and expressed concerns about the power demand of data centers, the security of AI products, as well as the relationships between tech executives and Trump.
According to Punchbowl News on Wednesday, technology executives closely associated with Trump, including Elon Musk, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, and NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang, are expected to be reviewed by the House Oversight Committee, the Energy and Commerce Committee, as well as the Senate Commerce Committee.

The media also pointed out that Sam Altman, the CEO of OpenAI, and Dario Amodei, the CEO of Anthropic, may also become witnesses and be questioned regarding their companies' AI products.
Trump's crypto transactions are under scrutiny
Trump's crypto transactions also appeared in the Democratic Party's midterms campaign attacks. Candidates, including Senator Mark Warner of Virginia, included these meme coins as part of a broader pattern of suspected corruption and self-enrichment.
Garcia said at a press conference on Wednesday, "In American politics, the level of greed and corruption is unprecedented."
"The president himself is involved in an encryption scam, and he is making billions of dollars from it. This family has become billions of dollars richer than the American public, who is struggling during this time."
Andrea Koberlic, the head of derivatives trading at AMINA Bank, stated in a market commentary sent to Cointelegraph, "What is currently of the most concern is the period of 'lame duck' governance."
"The Democrats have already told the Trump family and Republican leadership to hire lawyers – this clearly indicates that a corruption investigation is imminent."
Democrats on the House Judiciary Committee have been reviewing Trump's crypto business and released a staff report in November 2025, accusing him of using his presidential position to profit his family through crypto projects related to foreign interests, while undermining law enforcement and anti-corruption safeguards.
