Newark, New Jersey, November 4th / PRNewswire / -- The New Jersey Institute of Innovation ( New Jersey Innovation Institute , NJII ) announced today that it has successfully obtained Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification ( CMMC ) Level 2 certification. NJII is an institution under the New Jersey Institute of Technology ( NJIT ), dedicated to accelerating innovation and promoting technical solutions for governments and industries.

NJII indicates that this important milestone reflects its commitment to protecting controlled non-confidential information ( CUI ) as well as maintaining strict network security standards, which are essential for supporting the U.S. Department of War ( DoW ) and the defense industrial base ( DIB ).

CMMC Level has provided two certifications. NJII has established and maintained network security practices that comply with all 110 security requirements listed in NIST Special Publication 800-171, ensuring that the institution is capable of effectively protecting sensitive national defense-related information from evolving cyber threats.

"Obtaining the CMMC Level 2 certification reflects NJII's unwavering commitment to network security excellence, as well as our mission to support national defense, government, and industry partners by providing secure and reliable solutions," said NJII's interim president Jennifer D ' Angelo. "This achievement demonstrates the dedication of our team and further proves our capability to deliver innovative technologies and services that contribute to national security objectives while protecting sensitive information."

NJII indicates that as cyber threats become increasingly complex, network security is of paramount importance for maintaining trust, ensuring operational resilience, and protecting the integrity of defense supply chains. Obtaining CMMC Level 2 certification also strengthens NJII's status as a credible partner, which is particularly relevant for organizations operating in highly regulated and mission-critical environments.

"In today's national defense and technological environment, cybersecurity is the foundation of innovation," stated Michael Grinaway, Senior Director of Information Technology at NJII. "This certification demonstrates that NJII has the capability to meet stringent federal cybersecurity requirements, while continuing to provide valuable support to government and industry partners."

"Advanced manufacturing can only accelerate its development with strong digital security guarantees; NJII's CMMC Level 2 certification supports the fourth key focus of the national defense strategy, which is to promote secure and scalable defense production by strengthening the foundation of the defense industry," stated Thomas Murphy, Vice President of Defense Business at NJII.
