New York, November 3, 2026 / PRNewswire / -- Bold Security Today, we announce that the company has been selected for the 2027 Fortune Cyber list of 60 companies. This list is selected annually from the most important cybersecurity startups that have not yet gone public, been acquired, or experienced other major exits, and that have received venture capital support. Bold is making its debut on this list as an early-stage enterprise.
Over the past decade, data leakage prevention ( DLP ) has often been seen as causing noise and providing a false sense of security. Traditional DLP solutions rely on pattern recognition, which can detect PII and PCI, but they tend to miss source code, financial models, and board of directors documents. At the same time, these rules can also be triggered during legitimate operations, overwhelming security teams with numerous alerts, leading them to choose to turn off the interception function. As a result, protection tools have become detection tools instead.
Today, AI is bringing work back to the device side, entering into locally running desktop assistants and AI proxies, which are not within the original monitoring scope of the traditional DLP system. Bold has rebuilt the terminal DLP, establishing it on top of AI that runs directly on the device. The small language models on each device classify data based on its meaning rather than patterns, read the context of each operation, and intercept or provide prompts immediately when an operation occurs. The entire process does not require back-and-forth transmission with the cloud, does not involve writing regular expression rules, and will not be interrupted or overwritten even if the device goes offline.
"For many years, the industry has viewed the terminal as an outdated boundary and DLP as a necessary evil, but AI has changed these assumptions," said Bold Security, co-founder and CEO of Nati Hazut. "The speed at which people and AI agents transfer sensitive data on devices has become so fast that security teams can hardly keep up, while DLP is too cumbersome and insufficient. With Bold, we regard the terminal as a new point of risk exposure, yet also as the best location to solve this problem. Being selected for Fortune Cyber 60 proves the practical significance of this issue and our approach."
Bold was established in 2024 and ended its stealth phase at the beginning of 2025, securing $40 million in financing from Bessemer Venture Partners, Picture Capital, and Red Dot Capital Partners. The company also has dozens of rapidly growing clients, including Tekion, HiBob, Cresta, and Shutterfly. The founder of Bold previously founded two cybersecurity companies, Polyrize and SAM Seamless Network, which were later acquired by Varonis and Qualcomm respectively.
"All security teams are aware that DLP is a problem, but few companies are willing to rethink the way it operates," said Bessemer Venture Partners partner Amit Karp. "By using AI on terminals to understand sensitive data and prevent leaks without interfering with employees' work, Bold has created something truly different. That's also why we support this team."
Fortune Cyber 60™ is jointly launched by Lightspeed Venture Partners and AWS to recognize 60 leading cybersecurity startups that have not yet undergone IPO, acquisitions, or other major exits, and are supported by investors. Lightspeed will evaluate hundreds of cybersecurity companies supported by venture capital based on their annual recurring revenue, year-over-year growth, and proven operational data, and then divide the list into three phases, with 20 companies in each phase. The complete list can be viewed here.
