Oslo, Norway, November 3, 2026 / PRNewswire / -- Nordic Sem Token Issuance nductor Today, we announce the launch of the nRF71 series of ultra-low power system-on-chip (SoC) products, which integrate ultra-low power Wi-Fi ®, Bluetooth ® Low Energy ( LE ), Thread ®, and edge AI technologies onto a single chip.

The company stated that the nRF71 series is built upon the highly trusted ultra-low power design, software, and tools of Nordic in the field of Bluetooth low power consumption. Compared to the current generation of nRF70 series Wi-Fi products, the standby power consumption can be reduced by up to 20 times.

The company stated that this improvement in energy efficiency is expected to open up new possibilities for developers of battery-powered Wi-Fi devices, with applications including smart homes, wearable devices, and the industrial Internet of Things.

Nordic Sem Token Issuance nductor Wi-Fi Co-founder and Executive Vice President of Power Management, Kjetil Holstad, stated: "Edge AI will become a part of every connected device, but for devices that rely on batteries to operate, Wi-Fi has always required them to bear an unaffordable power consumption budget. With the nRF71 series, Nordic has eliminated this barrier. We bring Wi-Fi and edge AI to the ultra-low power platforms and tools that developers have already come to trust for Bluetooth Low Energy, so that the next generation of smart products can connect to any network, make decisions at the device level, and still be able to run on batteries for many years."

The edge AI and the entire application are both on a single chip.

Now, the edge-side AI inference can run directly on a single chip, without the need for an external AI processor. As a result, devices respond faster, consume less power, and require fewer components. Thanks to the integrated Axon Neural Processing Unit ( NPU ), the nRF71 series can perform functions such as keyword recognition, anomaly detection, and image classification on battery-powered devices; this NPU runs machine learning models 10 to 17 times faster than using 256 individual MHz Arm ® Cortex ®- M33 processors.

The nRF71 series can also run ultra-small AI models, which developers can use to build based on their own data using the Neuton software of Nordic. This is particularly suitable for running edge AI systems that rely solely on processors.

From Axon NPU and Neuton software, to performing aerial model updates through nRF and Cloud, Nordic is bringing edge AI into battery-powered Wi-Fi devices, allowing applications, wireless connections, and AI to all run on a single chip.

Battery-powered Wi-Fi for smart homes, security, and industrial Internet of Things

With the nRF71 series, battery-powered smart home hubs, Matter bridges, or Thread edge routers can now all run Wi-Fi, Thread, and Bluetooth LE on a single chip; the same is true for smart door locks, security panels, wearable devices, and industrial sensors that support Matter.

The company stated that this capability is due to two sets of independent radios and their respective independent radio frequency and processing modules: one set consists of Wi-Fi radios, and the other set includes the latest generation of nRF54 series radios, specifically the 2.4 GHz multi-protocol radios from the SoC family. Both sets of radios can receive signals simultaneously, allowing the device to maintain a connection with the cloud while monitoring Bluetooth LE or Thread traffic, without requiring either protocol to wait for the other to complete.

The first batch of nRF71 series includes nRF7120 and nRF7120E. nRF7120 supports dual-band, while nRF7120E adds triple-band support on top of that, along with Wi-Fi 6E and AI for hardware-accelerated edge computing. Both products are equipped with 4 MB on-chip non-volatile memories and 1 MB that is accessible to users.

To be exhibited at Electronica.

Nordic will showcase the nRF71 series at this year's Electronica exhibition, which includes a Nordic brand module. Their booth is located at number 159 in Hall C6.

Supply Situation

The nRF71 series has currently been sampled to some customers. Developers can contact the local Nordic sales representatives to inquire about the supply situation.

Morgan Stanley Wilson: The adjustment of U.S. stocks has come to an end; this could be a good opportunity to buy on dips.
Morgan Stanley's chief U.S. equity strategist Mike Wilson stated that the adjustment in U.S. stocks since June has entered its "final stage," and with the mid-term elections behind us, market uncertainties are expected to dissipate significantly, potentially presenting buying opportunities for high-quality cyclical stocks. He believes that the election results themselves have been largely digested by the market, and what truly needs attention are still tariffs, foreign policy, and changes in liquidity.
