Tesla CEO Elon Musk predicts that in the future, super intelligent artificial intelligence ( AI ) agents will begin to steal cryptocurrencies to make money for themselves, rather than for humanity.

On October 30, Musk shared this prediction on the social media platform X and expressed his views on the large-scale security vulnerability that occurred at Binance. The vulnerability involved approximately $6.3 billion in crypto assets.

Musk wrote in a tweet: "Super intelligent agents will one day do this, acquiring currency for themselves rather than for humanity."

His post is a reply to a post by the crypto commentator Blaney. In that post, Blaney explained how hackers allegedly managed to bypass the measures put in place to freeze the crypto assets stolen from Binance.

Posts with Blaney claim that the stablecoin issuers Tether and Circle have frozen billions of dollars' worth of USDT and USDC after a security vulnerability was discovered on Binance.

The post also added that it seems the hackers obtained Ethereum (ETH) before the funds were completely frozen.

It is reported that hackers first deposited $60 million worth of USDT into the decentralized lending protocol Aave, and then lent out approximately $44.6 million worth of the packaged version of ETH.

Unlike centralized stablecoins such as USDT and USDC, ETH cannot be frozen by the centralized issuer.

Elon Musk speculates that in the future, super intelligent AI agents may complete all of this on their own, solely to acquire cryptocurrencies for themselves.

An large-scale security vulnerability was discovered at Binance.

Musk's warning comes after Binance suffered one of the largest security breaches in the history of cryptocurrency. Binance is the world's largest cryptocurrency exchange.

According to Binance, this vulnerability involves approximately $6.3 billion in crypto assets.

Binance stated that it has collaborated with its blockchain partners to freeze approximately $3 billion in affected assets.
