SpaceX and Tesla have established a special committee to study a potential merger plan. Elon Musk confirmed this news during the third-quarter earnings conference call on SpaceX on Tuesday.
Calculated at current prices, the valuation of the merged company is approximately $3.5 trillion, which will make it the largest corporate merger in history. The previous record was held by the merger of SpaceX and xAI, with a valuation of $1.25 trillion.
Elon Musk stated that considering the massive investments both companies have made in artificial intelligence, merging them "makes sense," but he emphasized that no proposals have been made yet.
He said that any transaction requires the approval of at least 50% of Tesla's shareholders. Musk also stated that SpaceX is currently the seventh-largest company in the world, with Tesla ranking 11th.
Predictions from the market show that the probability of the two companies merging by early 2027 has exceeded 50%.
