Miami, October 21, 2026 / PRNewswire / -- According to news reports on Stock Preachers, trading during Tuesday showed that the pace of change in market leaders could be very fast. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose by 529.85 points, or 1.02%, to 52,495.88; the small-cap Russell 2000 Index increased by 1.65%; the Nasdaq Composite Index fell by 0.02% to 26,424.82; and the S&P 500 Index rose by 0.28% to 7,712.57. Some of the most significant individual stock movements on the day came from the third-quarter earnings reports of several companies that are not among the largest tech stocks, including a credit data company, a toy and game manufacturer, an industrial manufacturer, and a bank headquartered in Cleveland. Companies with recent market developments this week include: 3M Company ( NYSE : MMM ), Equifax Inc ( NYSE : EFX ), Hasbro, Inc ( NASDAQ : HAS ), and KeyCorp ( NYSE : KEY ).
According to the data from Stock Analysis, these four stocks saw increases ranging from 4.47% to 11.33% on Tuesday, and each of their gains was due to different reasons. One company announced a new data center partnership while presenting solid quarterly results; another company's stock price soared even though it lowered its annual revenue forecast; a third company raised its outlook due to the strong performance of a collectible card game; and the fourth company reported record quarterly revenue.
The media noted that this differentiation serves as a reminder that the financial reporting season operates in this manner. Index points tell investors where the market has closed, but it is the reaction of individual stocks after each set of financial reports that reveals which factors investors are truly willing to pay for. As more companies will announce their results in the remaining time of this week, these reactions are worth observing on a stock-by-stock basis.
According to Stock Preachers, when a stock opens higher with a gap after its financial report, traders will use charts to determine whether this trend can continue.
