Shift5 Secures $99 Million Contract to Further Support the Next Generation Command and Control Systems of the U.S. Army

The five-year contract will expand the role of Shift5 from a prototype partner to a NGC2 component.

Arlington, Virginia, October 15th / PRNewswire / -- Shift5, which provides operational intelligence platforms for the U.S. defense and transportation systems, announced today that it has been selected by the U.S. Army to support the next-generation Command and Control ( NGC2 ) program.

Shift5 joined the project in February this year through Anduril Industries, integrated its platform with Lattice, and provided on-site demonstrations during the Ivy Sting and Project Convergence exercises of the Army.

The platform of Shift5 is capable of collecting and converting operational data from military weapon systems, without being restricted by asset type or protocol. It outputs this data in two ways: by sending critical mission alerts to soldiers, and by providing a continuous data stream to situational awareness and logistics applications. This enables decision-makers at the tactical edge and command posts to obtain insights into combat readiness across fleets and battle zones simultaneously.

“NGC2 represents how we build the future of resilience, combat readiness, and operational advantages in our combat systems,” said Toby Magsig, CEO of Shift5. “By providing near-real-time visualization across all platforms, the Army can make faster and more informed support decisions on an enterprise-scale basis.”

“Shift5 unlocks data trapped within these systems and transforms it into a competitive advantage, powering the software, analytics, and AI applications that will define future warfare. By bringing AI to the forefront and providing commanders and maintenance personnel with actionable information, NGC2 will help the army act more swiftly, anticipate issues before they lead to mission failures, and ensure that troops are always ready for combat,” Magsig added.

NGC2 is the Army's plan to modernize command and control by integrating commercial technology into a unified ecosystem.
