On May 6, 2026, Anavex reported that the company's board of directors' special committee had "terminated for certain reasons the employment relationship of Dr. Christopher Missling as the company's CEO," and stated that this decision "took effect immediately, with reasons including behaviors that the special committee deemed inconsistent with company policies."

Affected by this news, the stock price of Anavex fell by $0.22 on May 7, 2026, a decrease of 6.59%, closing at $3.12 per share.
