LG CNS releases AX manufacturing solutions for the pharmaceutical industry

LG CNS launched AX manufacturing solutions for the pharmaceutical industry at the world's largest pharmaceutical and biotechnology exhibition

- Participate in CPHI Milan 2026 to expand the application scope of AX in the pharmaceutical industry

- Focusing on the theme of "Independent Factories in the Pharmaceutical Industry," showcasing key solutions covering factory design, production operations, and quality management

Seoul and Milan, October 7, 2026 / PRNewswire / -- South Korea's leading AI transformation enterprise LG CNS is expanding its AX manufacturing business in the manufacturing sector. At the world's largest pharmaceutical and biotechnology exhibition, CPHI Milan 2026, the company showcased intelligent factory technologies tailored for the pharmaceutical industry.

CPHI ( Convention on Pharmaceutical Ingredients ) is a trade exhibition for the global pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries, held throughout the year at various international locations in the United States, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. The Milan event is the flagship of CPHI, attracting approximately 60,000 visitors and nearly 3,000 companies from over 160 countries. This exhibition is regarded as the main platform where the latest technologies and trends in the global pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries converge. LG CNS indicates that the company is the only Korean enterprise participating in this year's newly established " AI & Tech " exhibition area.

The theme of the LG CNS booth is "Pharmaceutical Industry's Autonomous Factories," focusing on three intelligent factory solutions that connect factory design, production operations, and quality management. For pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies that are building or expanding their production facilities, these solutions can cover the entire process from factory construction to continuous operation.

During the factory design phase, LG CNS demonstrated Factova Worldworks. This is a virtual validation simulator based on digital twins that allows for the reconstruction of a real factory in a virtual environment. The tool models the factory layout in 3D to assess the optimal locations for pharmaceutical production equipment, the movement routes of operators within the proposed facility, and the transportation paths for raw materials. Pharmaceutical factories typically separate different areas such as clean rooms and production zones to prevent contamination of raw materials. Since different areas have varying requirements for personnel access rights, it is even more important to plan these routes meticulously in advance compared to general manufacturing factories.

During the production and operation phase, Factova Control is a data standardization and equipment control solution. It can automatically convert process data such as raw material identification numbers and formulas into a unified format, units, and labeling method, thereby ensuring that consistent data is used throughout all manufacturing stages. LG CNS indicates that this enables customers to respond immediately when introducing new equipment or adjusting the process workflow. The solution also utilizes artificial intelligence to detect equipment abnormalities and predict failures by analyzing current, temperature, and vibration data in real-time to identify early warning signals.

Quality management solutions analyze data such as production volume, changes in raw material temperature, and equipment operation history to identify product quality issues. This solution also supports all aspects from root cause investigation to subsequent measures after the problem is confirmed. LG CNS states that especially when abnormalities are detected during the production process, the system immediately calculates alternative solutions to address the issue and applies them to the next production phase, thereby proactively avoiding the production of defective products.

A AI agent trained based on quality data can also compile annual product quality review reports ( APQR ). Pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies need to conduct annual quality reviews to meet the requirements of Good Manufacturing Practices ( GMP ) for drug production in various countries, and record the results in APQR. In the past, relevant personnel were required to manually collect, analyze, and verify the necessary data, a process that could last for several months; today, companies have automated the entire process through AI, reducing the time required by more than 90%.

LG CNS, the person in charge of the Chemicals and Batteries Division, stated: "The AX manufacturing solutions we showcased at this exhibition are custom-made for the pharmaceutical industry. Therefore, by intelligently automating the entire process from factory design to quality management, we are able to provide support to customers in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries."

He also stated, "As a provider of integrated solutions covering various manufacturing fields, we will continue to utilize advanced solutions to address the challenges brought about by the development of pharmaceutical production facilities, which require extremely high precision and strict quality standards, and to help our customers produce medicines in a more automated and efficient manner."
