LG CNS showcases its AX solutions for pharmaceutical manufacturing at the world's largest pharmaceutical and biotechnology exhibition

Participate in the 2026 Milan exhibition organized by CPHI to further expand the application scope of AX in the pharmaceutical field.

- Focusing on the theme of "independent factories in the pharmaceutical industry," showcasing key solutions for factory design, production operations, and quality management

Seoul, South Korea, and Milan, October 7, 2026 / PRNewswire / -- One of South Korea's leading AI transformative enterprises, LG CNS, showcased intelligent factory technologies for the pharmaceutical industry at CPHI Milan 2026, further expanding its business in the field of AX (digital transformation) within manufacturing. CPHI Milan 2026 is the world's largest exhibition for pharmaceuticals and biotechnology.

Convention on Pharmaceutical Ingredients (CPHI) is an international professional exhibition targeting the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries, held in multiple cities around the world throughout the year, including the United States, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. The Milan exhibition is the flagship event of CPHI, attracting approximately 60,000 visitors and around 3,000 companies from over 160 countries. It is widely regarded as the core platform for showcasing the latest technologies and trends in the global pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries. LG CNS is the only Korean company to enter the newly established “AI & Tech” zone this year.

The LG CNS booth is themed "Autonomous Factories in the Pharmaceutical Industry" and focuses on three intelligent factory solutions that connect factory design, production operations, and quality management. Pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies that are building or expanding their production bases can adopt these solutions throughout the entire process from factory construction to daily operations.

During the factory design phase, LG CNS demonstrated Factova Worldworks, which is a virtual validation simulator based on digital twin technology that can recreate a real factory in a virtual space. It analyzes the factory layout through 3D modeling to study the optimal placement of pharmaceutical equipment, the walking routes of employees within the proposed factory, as well as the flow paths of raw materials. Pharmaceutical factories separate different areas such as clean rooms and production zones to prevent contamination of raw materials. Employee access rights also vary depending on the area; therefore, compared to traditional manufacturing factories, it is particularly important to carefully plan employee routes in advance.

Factova Control is a data standardization and equipment control solution designed for the production and operational phase. It can automatically convert process data such as raw material numbers and formulas into a unified format, units, and notation, ensuring that every manufacturing step operates based on consistent data. This enables customers to respond immediately when adding new equipment or adjusting work processes. The solution also utilizes artificial intelligence to analyze current, temperature, and vibration data in real-time, detect equipment abnormalities, predict failures, and identify early warning signals.

This quality management solution analyzes data such as production volume, fluctuations in raw material temperatures, and equipment operation history to identify potential product quality issues. It also supports a complete process from root cause analysis to subsequent measures after the problem is discovered. Notably, when the system detects an anomaly during the process, it immediately calculates alternative solutions to address the issue and applies them to the next production step, thereby proactively preventing the occurrence of non-conforming products.

A AI agent trained based on quality data can also compile annual product quality reports ( APQR ). Pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies conduct annual quality audits to comply with the regulatory requirements of Good Manufacturing Practices ( GMP ) in various countries, and record the results in APQR. In the past, employees had to manually collect, analyze, and verify the required data, a process that could take several months. LG CNS has automated the entire process with the help of artificial intelligence, reducing the time required by more than 90%.

LG CNS, the person in charge of the Chemical/Battery Division, stated: "The manufacturing solutions we showcased at this exhibition are specifically tailored for the pharmaceutical industry. They enable intelligent automation across the entire process, from factory design to quality management, providing support to pharmaceutical and biotechnology clients. As a turnkey service provider covering all areas of manufacturing, we will continue to leverage cutting-edge solutions to address the challenges in the development of pharmaceutical production bases, which have high requirements for precision and strict quality standards. We also help our clients produce medicines in a more automated and efficient manner."
