New York, October 1st / PRNewswire / -- Breakthrough T1D (originally JDRF) states that, as a globally leading organization in the research and advocacy for type 1 diabetes ( T1D ), the company is proud to continue hosting the Breakthrough T1D Walks event throughout the fall, calling on the community to raise awareness about critical T1D research and to raise funds. Breakthrough T1D Walk is a national initiative involving thousands of people who are committed to changing the future for T1D patients. This is the largest T1D community event of its kind, promoting research, advocacy, and support to improve patients' lives and to provide funding for cure research.
Breakthrough T1D Walk has received support from the national series sponsor, Ford Motor Company, and SanMar. These sponsors help to empower the community and play a key role in promoting registration, fundraising, and increasing awareness, thereby ensuring the growth and success of Walk events across various locations.
Under the leadership of Edsel B and Ford II, Ford Motor Company has been a national series sponsor of Breakthrough T1D Walk for decades. The son of Edsel B and Ford II has lived with T1D for over 25 years. Since the establishment of Ford Global Action Team for Breakthrough T1D in 1998, the company has raised over 85 million US dollars for T1D research.
Breakthrough T1D, the senior vice president responsible for on-site participation, stated: "Ford Motor Company's long-term commitment to the mission of Breakthrough T1D has continuously enhanced the influence of our organization as well as the success of the Breakthrough T1D Walk project, increasing fundraising efforts, event participation, and overall engagement. Ford's contribution is not just about sponsorship; it is about truly supporting us with practical actions to accelerate breakthroughs for the type 1 diabetes community. This year, Ford has further promoted Breakthrough T1D Walk registration through Ford Challenge and has generously pledged to provide up to $75,000 in matching funds for individual registrations. We express our deep gratitude for Ford's leadership and ongoing cooperation."
Breakthrough T1D indicates that there are over 120 Breakthrough T1D Walk events across the United States. Regarding Breakthrough T1D (formerly JDRF)
As a globally leading research and advocacy organization for type 1 diabetes, Breakthrough T1D is committed to improving the daily lives of people with type 1 diabetes and advancing towards a cure. The organization achieves this goal by investing in the most promising research, collaborating with governments to address issues affecting T1D communities, and by helping to educate and empower those affected by this disease.
About Type 1 Diabetes ( T1D )
T1D is an autoimmune disease that can cause the pancreas to secrete very little or no insulin at all. This forces patients to rely on insulin therapy and exposes them to short-term and long-term complications, including high or low blood sugar levels, as well as damage to the kidneys, eyes, nerves, and heart, and in severe cases, death. 9.5 million people worldwide are affected by it. Many believe that T1D is only diagnosed in children and adolescents, but it is also common in adults, accounting for nearly 50% of all T1D diagnoses. The onset of T1D has nothing to do with diet or lifestyle. Although the exact causes have not been fully elucidated, scientists believe that both genetic factors and environmental triggers play a role. Currently, there is no cure for T1D.
