The Jim Cramer of CNBC indicates that the strong rebound of AMD under the leadership of CEO Lisa Su is far from over, and the rise of agentic and AI will bring new growth opportunities for this chip manufacturer. AMD rose nearly 13% last week, with its market value briefly breaking through $1 trillion, but then fell back below that level on Monday.

As indicated by Jim Cramer of CNBC, the remarkable upward trend of Advanced Micro Devices under the leadership of CEO Lisa Su is far from over, and the rise of agentic and AI is opening up another significant growth opportunity for this chip manufacturer.

“Lisa Su has led one of the greatest transformations in history at AMD; perhaps it is the greatest transformation ever. I don’t see any signs that it will stop in the short term,” said the host of Mad Money.

AMD rose nearly 13% last week, with its market value briefly exceeding $1 trillion, but it fell back below that milestone on Monday. The stock has gained nearly 30% since September alone, and the recent upward trend was partly driven by Meta launching a personal AI agency platform Muse. Cramer stated that the popularity of AI agencies should lead to a significant demand for central processing units, and he believes that AMD "remains the leader" in this market.

"Earlier this year, investors shifted their focus from the training of the AI model to inference and agentics. The market also gradually realized that demand for CPU would surge, because to run useful AI agents, you need more CPU," said Cramer.

AMD's current position has seen a significant reversal compared to when Su took over as CEO in October 2014. At that time, the company's market value was just over $2.5 billion, and it was losing market share to its competitor Intel. Since then, the stock price of AMD has soared by more than 18,000%, and Su has re-focused the company, steadily increasing its share in the CPU market.

While strengthening the CPU business, AMD has also managed to establish a foothold in the field of graphics processors for AI workloads, competing with NVIDIA in this market. Cramer indicates that this market is large enough to accommodate multiple winners. AMD has already received important commitments in terms of GPU from some of the largest AI spenders, including Meta and OpenAI.

"NVIDIA is still the number one player in the AI chip industry, but AMD is also making a lot of money, and [Su's] products are more competitive than people think," he said. "NVIDIA actually can't produce its own chips fast enough to meet the demand. Of course, there's room for AMD here."

Cramer acknowledges that the huge increase in AMD makes it prone to a pullback, but its long-term opportunities remain intact. "What an astonishing rise," he said. "Thanks to the low-key, persistent, and resilient leadership of Lisa Su, she turned a company worth $2.5 billion into a giant approaching one trillion dollars."

The Charitable Trust of Cramer, which is also the portfolio managed by CNBC Investing Club, holds shares in INTC, META, and NVDA.
