Directly comparable to Apple products
This release is seen as a direct response from Meta to Apple's Vision Pro. Reports suggest that Meta is attempting to highlight its differences from traditional head-mounted display products with a lighter form factor device.
Apple also recently held a hardware launch event, introducing its first foldable phone iPhone Duo, but did not update Vision Pro. Reports suggest that Apple is still working on smart glasses, as well as AirPods with cameras.
The eyewear product line continues to expand.
In addition to the new VR glasses, Zuckerberg also showcased several updates to smart glasses, including a new model of Ray-Ban camera-enabled glasses, Meta Display glasses with a small display area, as well as the first batch of glasses products that only provide audio functionality.

Among them, the audio glasses will adopt the Clubmaster and Burbank styles of Ray-Ban. Although smart glasses still face privacy controversies, reports mention that Meta has already gained a leading position in the competition for post-smartphone hardware thanks to its existing product line.
