Spanish crypto exchange Bit2Me announces the establishment of an independent company Bit2Shield to provide services for tracking, seizing, custodianship, and disposal of crypto assets for courts, law enforcement, and financial institutions. The company disclosed that this business covers the entire process from the identification of digital assets during investigations to their sale according to instructions from regulatory authorities.

In 2025, 1.5 million euros have been processed.

Bit2Me indicates that Bit2Shield is essentially the corporatization of existing law enforcement collaboration services. The company claims that by 2025, it had handled approximately 1.5 million euros in seized encrypted assets for Interpol, Europol, and the Spanish police.

In these cases, on-chain tracking was supported by Chainalysis, followed by Bit2Me converting the relevant crypto assets into euros and transferring them to a national account.

Integrated processing from seizure to sale

The company disclosed that after the digital assets in question were located and seized, they would be stored in multi-signature cold wallets until a disposal order is issued by a court or other competent authorities. If a sale order is received, Bit2Shield will be responsible for coordinating the process.

The actual conversion of encrypted assets into euros is carried out by Bitcoinforme S.L., which is an entity under Bit2Me that has obtained authorization from MiCA in Spain. After the sale is completed, the funds will be transferred to the government bank account in euros.

Bit2Me also emphasizes that Bit2Shield itself does not belong to the encrypted asset service providers under MiCA, as its main focus is on investigation, digital forensics, and training; the regulated fiat currency exchange services are still undertaken by Bitcoinforme.

MiCA After the transition period, we will advance new business initiatives.

This arrangement came into effect after the end of the final phase of the EU's MiCA transition period. Reports indicate that among the 1,343 crypto service providers within the European Economic Area, only 281 had obtained MiCA authorization by the deadline, while the remaining 1,062 had not yet been approved.

In terms of business expansion, Bit2Me has also been providing infrastructure to traditional financial institutions in recent years. In June, the Spanish banking group Cecabank launched a compliance encryption platform for financial institutions, with Bit2Me responsible for transaction execution, liquidity, market access, and exchange layer services, while Cecabank provides institutional custody and banking infrastructure. Renta and Banco have become some of the first users of this platform.

The demand for seized asset custody has increased.

As law enforcement agencies handle more cases involving digital assets, the demand for professional custody and evidence collection services is also on the rise. In August of this year, the South Korean police awarded a one-year contract for the custody of encrypted assets involved in a case to the Upbit operator Dunamu.

Spain also faces similar issues. In April of this year, the Spanish National Police seized approximately 400,000 euros in crypto assets during an investigation into comic book piracy, with the relevant cold wallets hidden inside thermometers mounted on walls.

Additional information:The investigation business of Bit2Shield will be undertaken by Adri and Maro. Public information indicates that he has previously served as a member of the Central Operations Department of the Spanish National Guard's UCO. In the future, he will lead the evidence collection and investigation work of this new company for courts, law enforcement agencies, and financial institutions.
