Uniswap launched Permissioned Pools on its v4 protocol, targeting regulated institutions and attempting to bring tokenized real-world asset trading to compliant on-chain scenarios. Meanwhile, on-chain data shows that market maker Cumberland bought approximately 1.62 million UNI tokens in a concentrated manner within a few hours. With the protocol's progress and the large buy orders combined, UNI has risen by nearly 13% in the past week.

v4 adds a compliant fund pool

This new feature, launched by Uniswap in partnership with Securitize, Superstate, Dowgo, and others, aims to enable regulated entities to trade tokenized securities and investment funds on-chain. Its core approach utilizes v4's customizable hooks mechanism to directly embed issuer-defined compliance requirements into the liquidity pool.

Uniswap is using this opportunity to expand its business beyond traditional crypto trading to include institutional DeFi and RWA trading infrastructure. For the market, this means the protocol is attempting to cater to a broader range of institutional funding needs, rather than just serving existing on-chain trading users.

Cumberland buys 1.62 million UNI tokens in just a few hours

According to on-chain analytics platform Arkham Intelligence, Cumberland bought over 1.62 million UNI tokens within four hours, worth approximately $6.77 million at the time, with an average purchase price of about $4.17. The buy orders were distributed across Binance, Bybit, and OKX, indicating that the transactions were not conducted on a single exchange.

Cumberland then transferred over 1.22 million UNI to address 0x5eE. A blockchain analytics platform linked this address to Monetalis. Data shows that this wallet currently holds approximately 3.35 million UNI, worth over $14.4 million.

Large-scale token transfers to non-exchange wallets are typically interpreted by the market as indicating medium- to long-term holding rather than preparation for short-term selling. However, the purpose of these transfers has not yet been publicly disclosed.

UNI is currently focused on the $4.20 level in the short term.

As of press time, UNI was trading at approximately $4.39. The original article stated that the token had broken through a months-long downtrend line, and the previous resistance level of around $4.20 was now being viewed as a short-term support zone by the market.

The article also mentions that the RSI rose to 56.26, returning above 50; the CMF also turned positive, indicating improved capital inflows. Against this backdrop, the market's next focus is on the $5.05 level; if buying continues, $7 is also being discussed as a higher target.

However, if UNI falls below $4.20 again, the price may retreat and test lower support levels. Overall, the key variables in the current market remain whether new services related to the protocol can lead to actual adoption and whether recent buying pressure will continue.
