CZ: Beware of Cryptocurrency Phishing Scams
2026-11-05 14:38:00
According to CoinMeta, Zhao Changpeng (the co-founder of Binance), warned that a malicious crypto phishing scam has recently emerged. Attackers use forged Trust Wallet websites to trick users into connecting to their wallets. The fake websites deceive users by replacing the "u" in the domain name with "a" and changing the extension from ".com" to ".cam". This tactic is applicable to several well-known crypto wallets, such as Trust Wallet, Phantom, and OKX Wallet. Zhao's warning comes at a time when there has been a surge in phishing attempts targeting wallet users. Cybersecurity company Bitdefender announced on November 3rd that scammers took advantage of a recent security vulnerability in Binance to spread emails pretending to be from Trust Wallet, claiming that Trust Wallet users were also affected. They instructed users to perform a mandatory wallet verification process, warning that those who did not complete the verification would have their accounts suspended. This phishing scheme affected users in multiple countries, including the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, Ireland, and South Africa.
