Economists: The momentum of economic growth in the eurozone is weakening
2026-11-04 17:03:30
According to CoinMeta, Chris Williamson, Chief Business Economist at S&P Global Markets Intelligence, stated that the October PMI survey data indicated that the eurozone economy grew at a modest but steady rate of 0.3% at the beginning of the fourth quarter, continuing the strong performance seen in the third quarter. However, there are concerns that the recent growth momentum may be weakening. After three consecutive months of steady sales growth, new business inflows have slowed down to nearly stagnant levels, and corporate growth expectations have also dropped to their lowest level since May. Enterprises are facing three adverse factors: inflation, geopolitical uncertainties, and rising borrowing costs. Although the market is almost certain that the European Central Bank will raise interest rates again in December, if the economic growth momentum further slows down, the market may begin to question whether it is necessary to tighten monetary policy further.
