70 billion USD in NVIDIA graphics card orders form a long queue; Chinese customers are expected to receive only 1% of them in four months

According to CoinMeta and OneMillion.AI, Chinese technology giants such as Alibaba, Tencent, and ByteDance have placed orders for approximately 6 million NVIDIA RTX Pro 5500 graphics cards, with a total value of around $70 billion. However, due to production capacity limitations, only tens of thousands of cards are expected to be delivered in the next four months, which is about 1% of the total order volume. These orders were exposed back in October, when NVIDIA estimated that it could only meet 5% to 10% of the demand. The short-term delivery situation has become even more severe: there may only be a few thousand cards available by the end of 2026, with tens of thousands of additional cards to be delivered in February next year. The RTX Pro 5500 is originally a workstation graphics card equipped with 84GB of video memory and its performance is not as good as that of the H200, B300, and other data center GPU cards. Under U.S. export controls, Chinese companies have no choice but to opt for this graphics card as a second-best option. NVIDIA is prioritizing the production of its next-generation Rubin chips, which are more profitable. The global production of the RTX Pro 5500 next year is likely to be less than 3 million cards, which is not even enough to meet half of China's orders. Some Chinese customers estimate that by the end of 2027, they may receive approximately 700,000 cards, which still only accounts for 12% of the total order volume.
