According to CoinMeta, and as reported by Bloomberg, following a 480 billion dollar slump in tech stocks, China plans to introduce market support measures worth 15 billion dollars. The Chinese stock market has been declining for 12 consecutive weeks. To support stock prices, Beijing is simplifying the procedures for companies to repurchase their own shares; listed companies no longer need to wait six months after going public before conducting such repurchases. In addition, listed companies are required to fulfill their commitments to support stock prices when necessary. These measures come after the stock price of robot manufacturer Unitree fell by 50% since its listing in August, and the stock price of memory chip manufacturer CXMT fell by more than 25% within a month. The STAR 50 index, which has been under pressure from tech stocks, fell 4% today, with a cumulative decline of about 40% since the end of October, resulting in a loss of 480 billion dollars in market value. Meanwhile, 31 investment companies have applied for over 100 billion yuan (about 15 billion dollars) through a financing program to be launched by the central bank on November 4th. Additionally, discussions are underway for 20 billion yuan in bank loans to support two state-owned asset management companies. Beijing hopes to re-attract buyers, but the challenge of rebuilding confidence remains, as economic growth has slowed down, and investors' doubts about whether AI companies can achieve expected profits continue.
