Solana Founder Yakovenko: Phishing is the biggest threat to encrypted users
2026-11-04 01:33:57
According to CoinMeta, co-founder Anatoly Yakovenko warned that phishing and social engineering are the greatest threats faced by cryptocurrency users, and recommended using dedicated iOS devices and multi-signature wallets as a low-cost security measure. He pointed out that the most urgent danger comes from deception, rather than threats from AI or quantum computers. Yakovenko's comments came shortly after two major exchange security incidents. Binance reported that assets worth $6.34 billion were affected in the attack on October 29th, while Mercado Bitcoin suspended deposits and withdrawals after discovering a security vulnerability on November 2nd. The attack on Binance described a months-long operation involving employee deception, malicious software development, and stolen credentials. Research by Chainalysis shows that 158,000 cases of personal wallet theft were recorded in 2025, with a total loss of $713 million.
