According to CoinMeta, LG Energy plans to expand its energy storage battery production capacity in North America to seize the opportunities brought about by the growing demand for artificial intelligence data centers. The company's Chief Financial Officer, Chang Sil Lee, stated during a financial report conference call on Tuesday that it is expected that by the end of this year, its soft-pack energy storage system (ESS) production capacity will exceed 50 gigawatt-hours, and it plans to further increase production to over 70 gigawatt-hours next year. In addition, LG Energy is preparing to launch a lithium iron phosphate (LFP) 2170 cylindrical battery, with mass production scheduled for the first half of 2027. The company is also accelerating the research and development of sodium-ion battery technology, planning to start producing energy storage system samples at its Wucang factory by the end of this year and deliver test products to North American customers in 2027.
