According to CoinMeta, Jack Ma, co-founder and chairman of the board of Alibaba Group, spoke at the 2026 World Internet Conference in Wuzhen, advocating for model open source. He stated that the demand for AI continues to rise, and Chinese companies are increasing their efforts in model open source and ecosystem openness, with key indicators such as the number of downloads of open-source models remaining leading. He pointed out that there is much discussion around the development of AI, but "only by making it open source can it be widely adopted, and only widespread adoption can create a sustainable and inclusive era of intelligence." Jack Ma introduced that three years ago, Alibaba proposed an open-source strategy, and to date, Alibaba's Qianwen has open-sourced more than 470 models, with cumulative global downloads exceeding 4 billion.
