According to CoinMeta, Singapore-based data center operator STT GDC is in talks with banks for a syndicated loan of S$3.1 billion (approximately $2.4 billion), joining the wave of debt financing driven by the artificial intelligence boom. The loan has a term of three years and comes with an interest rate that is 165 basis points higher than the average benchmark Singapore Interbank Offered Rate (SORA), along with an option to extend it for up to two more years. The funds obtained will be used to finance the assets of STT GDC. Data shows that since the beginning of 2025, the global scale of AI-related debt financing has exceeded $650 billion. Moody's Analytics predicts that the investment in data centers is expected to reach at least $3 trillion in the next five years.
