Chainalysis: $6.4B Binance Programmatic money laundering detected in the hacker incident

According to CoinMeta, as reported by Chainalysis, an unprecedented money laundering pattern was detected in the $6.4 billion Binance hacking incident. Thousands of transactions were frequently moved within a short period of time; the funds did not flow in a straight line but circulated between multiple wallets, often reverting to addresses that had been used before. Many wallets followed the same operational script: receiving a certain amount of TRX, then receiving more funds and repeating the process of forwarding them. Chainalysis pointed out that this indicates that the money laundering process was likely automated by software, rather than being carried out manually, and the speed was probably intended from the beginning according to its design.
