Factory releases Droid 1.0: Code Mode is enabled by default, significantly reducing Token consumption

According to CoinMeta, Factory released Droid 1.0, which enables procedural tool calls by default (code mode), significantly reducing the number of model calls and token consumption. Through code mode, AI allows for writing JavaScript scripts and continuously calling the tools hundreds of times, avoiding frequent requests to large models. For example, migrating 151 linear tickets would require 36 requests and 3.1 million token using traditional methods, but with code mode, only 2 requests and about 61,000 token are needed, representing a reduction of approximately 98%. In tests using Claude Opus 5.5, task costs were reduced by about 15%. Factory also optimized the tool call strategy and task execution mechanism. In the Terminal-bench 4 self-tests, Droid scored 3.5 points higher than Codex, with successful task costs reduced by 12%, although the time taken increased by 10%. Code mode are not new technologies; similar solutions were made public in 2025 by Cloudflare and Anthropic.
