Trezor Issues Security Warning: Devices Suspected of Having Malicious Hardware Implantation
2026-10-30 15:31:04
According to CoinMeta, hardware wallet manufacturer Trezor has issued a security warning stating that it has received a responsible disclosure report indicating that one of the Trezor Safe devices purchased in August 2026 through distributor Cryptobilis may have been implanted with malicious hardware. Trezor has not yet verified the affected device but considers the report credible, and so far, no Cryptobilis buyers have reported any financial losses. Trezor recommends that users who purchased devices through Cryptobilis since March 2026 transfer their assets as soon as possible to wallets created with new mnemonic phrases, and those who have not yet activated their devices using the original mnemonic phrases should stop setting them up. Previously, on October 9th, Trezor revoked the distributor qualification of Cryptobilis due to alleged sales of tampered Ledger devices. No signs of tampering have been found in the four Trezor devices that have been checked so far, and the investigation is still ongoing.
