According to CoinMeta, Binance recently disclosed that it encountered a security vulnerability worth approximately $6.3 billion. Investigators have linked this attack to a North Korean hacking group. Preliminary investigations indicate that the attackers obtained access to the exchange’s internal systems through a employee’s laptop. This incident could become the largest cryptocurrency theft in history, surpassing the $1.5 billion Bybit hacking incident in February 2025. Binance stated that about $3 billion in affected assets have been frozen, and deposit and withdrawal services have been suspended. Binance founder Zhao Changpeng confirmed this incident on social media and assured users that their funds are safe.
