According to CoinMeta, Binance has confirmed that it is dealing with a security incident, as users have reported that funds from their cryptocurrency wallets have been stolen. As the world's largest cryptocurrency exchange, Binance stated in an email to TechCrunch that it has become aware of the potential security issue and is actively investigating it. Binance assured that users' funds are completely safe, and its security team is urgently reviewing all relevant information. The exchange will provide updates through official channels once the situation is confirmed. Binance spokesperson Ross O’Leary mentioned that, as a precautionary measure, Binance has “temporarily suspended withdrawals from multiple networks” due to this security incident. This incident occurred not long after Binance founder Zhao Changpeng indicated on social media that the company might have been subject to a hacker attack. According to crypto observers, at least $2 billion has been stolen from Binance’s hot wallets, although these figures have not yet been confirmed, and the theft may still be ongoing.
