According to CoinMeta, the Singapore police reported that cryptocurrency users lost approximately S$3.5 million (about $2.6 million) due to the purchase of tampered Ledger hardware wallets. Since September 10th, the police have received at least two cases involving tampered Ledger devices. The investigation found that the affected devices were physically modified to steal users' mnemonics or private keys, resulting in unauthorized access to their cryptocurrency assets. Ledger has been contacted by the police and is reviewing the related cases. This loss is a follow-up to the investigation into the damaged devices distributed through Cryptobilis. On October 13th, it was confirmed that hidden hardware implants were found in the theft incidents reported by users; these components were capable of capturing mnemonics and transmitting information via LTE. Ledger stated that this malicious component operated separately from the device's security elements and did not affect the protection of private keys.
