According to CoinMeta, [Deutsche Bank: The U.S. Treasury has taken a step towards adjusting future Treasury bond issuance] As reported by Cailian News on October 28th, strategists at Deutsche Bank stated in a report that the U.S. Treasury has requested primary dealers to provide their views on the structural changes in investor demand and expectations for future Treasury bond auctions. This is an important step in driving market discussions about future adjustments to Treasury bond issuance. Analysis of data on U.S. Treasury bond holdings and the indicator of portfolio weighted average maturity ( WAM ) shows that "market demand for long-term U.S. Treasury bonds has weakened." This trend is mainly due to the continuous reduction in the size of long-term holding portfolios and investors' preference shifting towards shorter-term Treasury bonds. Deutsche Bank strategists noted that as the U.S. Treasury faces greater financing needs in the coming years, and given that the current market weighted average maturity ( WAM ) is near historical highs, there is some room for adjusting the issuance structure. Therefore, "there are even more reasons in the future to proactively shorten the maturity structure of newly issued Treasury bonds."
