According to CoinMeta, the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) and the U.S. government have filed a lawsuit against Utah, challenging the state's enforcement of regulations regarding predictive markets, which involves jurisdiction over 10 states. In a statement on October 27, the CFTC stated that the lawsuit aims to prevent Utah from using state laws to shut down federally registered exchanges. The complaint was filed on October 26 in a Utah district court, with Utah and Attorney General Derek Brown listed as defendants. Federal lawyers are requesting preliminary and permanent injunctions covering state investigations and law enforcement regarding contracts regulated by the CFTC. The complaint also mentioned that Utah filed its own state court cases against Kalshi and Susquehanna trading companies on October 20.
