Tim Murray: The Fed's interest rate hike cycle has ended, with two more hikes possible before the end of the year
2026-10-27 23:16:38
According to CoinMeta, Tim Murray, a capital markets strategist at Primes Multisector Assets, stated that the Federal Reserve changed its monetary policy direction on September 16th by raising the target interest rate range by 25 basis points, marking the first interest rate hike since 2023. However, what is truly noteworthy is not just the 25-basis-point increase, but rather the end of the interest rate cut cycle. Currently, investors expect this round of interest rate hikes to be relatively modest. As of September 23rd, the interest rate futures market indicates that the Federal Reserve may raise rates again nearly twice before the end of the year, each time by 25 basis points, while by the end of 2027, the market expects a total of slightly more than four interest rate hikes. In other words, the market seems to view this hike as a policy adjustment in the middle of a cycle, rather than the beginning of a new round of continuous rate hikes.
