According to CoinMeta, as reported by Coindesk, American asset management firm Federated Hermes (NYSE: FHI) with a managed asset size of $911 billion plans to issue the first batch of tokenized fund share classes in early 2027. The firm will collaborate with digital securities infrastructure provider Prometheum to offer these products to investors through traditional brokers and financial advisors. Kevin Barr, the head of digital asset products at Federated Hermes, stated that money market funds may become the first batch of tokenized products, although the specific funds and the blockchain technology to be used have not yet been determined. Unlike previous efforts to tokenize existing fund assets through third-party platforms, Federated Hermes plans to issue tokenized fund share classes on its own this time.
