UK High Court rules that the property rights of Chinese investors in Bitcoin should be governed by Chinese law

According to CoinMeta, and as reported by Caixin News, the UK High Court made a ruling on October 12 regarding the dispute over the recovery of over 61,000 bitcoins involved in the illegal fundraising case of Tianjin Lantian Greer. The court determined that the property rights claims of Chinese investors to these bitcoins should be judged in accordance with Chinese law rather than British law. This means that approximately 16,000 Chinese victims who participated in the UK recovery process may not be able to share in the appreciation benefits brought about by the rise in bitcoin prices, and the scope of compensation may be limited to only the principal and interest.
